A new technique using Nanotechnology shows a practical means of decreasing cost and increasing speed of DNA sequencing. One of Kurzweil's milestones on the way to the Singularity was decreasing the cost of DNA sequencing to the point of being available to everyone. Looks like we're right on track.

Dispute Over How Alzheimer's Kills Brain Cells Resolved
For a decade, Alzheimer's disease researchers have been entrenched in debate about one of the mechanisms believed to be responsible for brain cell death and memory loss in the illness.

Now researchers at the University of Michigan and the University of California, San Diego have settled the dispute.
