Tobe & Friends Hookshot Escape soundtrack released
Composer and sound designer Luke Thomas has released the six-track soundtrack (including one unused track) to Tobe & Friends Hookshot Escape through Bandcamp. The album featuring music from the iOS game by Secret Base, a spiritual successor to Tobe’s Vertical Adventure for PC, and can be downloaded in your file format of choice for "name your price." Cover art is by Ray Teo.

echochrome's Noisycroak studio forms Tekaru band
Tokyo game sound studio Noisycroak has formed a new live band called Tekaru. Members include echochrome composer Hideki Sakamoto on organ, Hiroyoshi Kato on synthesizer, Keisuke Itou on bass, Yasushi Asada on guitar, and Yasuhiro Kawagoe on drums. Their debut album "Tekaru Technical" will include live renditions of music from echochrome, Patchwork Heroes and No Heroes Allowed.

Nubuwo Debut Bundle funded through Kickstarter
Our one-week game audio promotion was fully funded, raising $16,000 in pledges through Kickstarter. Over 730 backers participated in the project and will be receiving download codes for the game-inspired music bundle. This coming week will mark the official launch of Nubuwo's regular reporting at GDC 2012.

virt joins FX4 pre-listening party
Noise Channel is hosting a listening party for virt's FX4 album, due out this evening. Tune in at 10pm Eastern to hear the entire album, following a discussion between TrueStar and the Retro City Rampage co-composer on the subject of FX4 and the previous FX albums. After the listening party, the album will be formally released.

Q&A: Kumi Tanioka's independent vision
Late last year, on 11/11/11, Kumi Tanioka performed on stage at the Vana♪Con orchestral concert, featuring her compositions from Final Fantasy XI. Having gone freelance, Tanioka has founded her own company, named Riquisimo, and scored three independently developed interactive storybooks: Snow White, The Ugly Duckling and Hansel and Gretel. Containing multiple translations of all text and narration, the iOS applications represent a cutting edge language tool for the young.

IGF video with Danny B. and Mattias Häggström Gerdt

Persona 2 Eternal Punishment headed to PlayStation Portable
Following the remake of Persona 2 Innocent Sin, the concluding chapter of the Atlus role-playing game will be making its way to PlayStation Portable. Animation studio Madhouse will be creating a new intro for the game, and director Shoji Meguro will arrange all music tracks. Both original and arrange tracks will be playable in-game when the title goes on sale May 17 in Japan.

Antichamber teaser trailer
Alexander Bruce has released a teaser trailer for Antichamber, which is up for a 2012 Independent Games Festival award in the category of technical excellence. Music for the mind-bending first-person puzzle game is by Siddhartha Barnhoorn, with sound design by Robin Arnott. The developers are shooting for a mid-year release on Steam.

PixelJunk 4am Party planned for March 6 at GDC
A public demonstration of Q-Games' PixelJunk 4AM is planned for March 6 at 6:00 pm, during the Game Developers Conference Kickoff Party. The meetup will take place at SUPER7 in San Francisco, located at 1427 Haight Street. The PlayStation 3 exclusive for use with PlayStation Move features art and music designed by PixelJunk Eden composer Baiyon, who will be on hand at the event.

Hideki Sakamoto scores Time Travelers
Hideki Sakamoto of the Tokyo-based game sound studio Noisycroak is writing original music for Level-5's Time Travelers for Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita. The composer and scenario writer Jiro Ishii previously collaborated on 428: In a Blockaded Shibuya, developed by Chunsoft.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories' Music from Head Radio & Lips 106 soundtracks
Rockstar Games has published two digital albums of music heard in PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable title Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. Music from Head Radio and Lips 106, broadcasting from Liberty City circa 1988, feature seven music tracks each, which are available to sample and purchase through iTunes.

Nobuooo launches one-week game audio Kickstarter
Nobuooo has launched a one-week Kickstarter together with twelve game-inspired musicians. Proceeds will benefit the artists and allow for founding a new Japanese and English-language web domain on nubuwo.com / ja.nubuwo.com. Music from the bundle is available to stream in full on nubuwo.bandcamp.com, including tracks from unreleased games The Binding of Isaac: The Wrath of the Lamb and Clairvoyance (by the makers of Kometen).

Danny Baranowsky scores The Hunger Games: Girl on Fire
Game composer Danny Baranowsky (Super Meat Boy, The Binding of Isaac) is writing original music for The Hunger Games: Girl on Fire, which is being designed by Adam Saltsman of Canabalt and Gravity Hook HD. The iPhone and iPad title, developed in coordination with Lionsgate, takes as its source the upcoming film, based on the young adult novel written by Suzanne Collins.
